Every time I upgrade my camera equipment, I return to the exact same spot near the Point Montara Lighthouse a few miles north of my home to test my new gear. Over the years, I have been lucky to capture this scene three times under stunning yet completely different conditions. On this occasion it also happened to be just as the sun was setting on the longest day of the year.

Point Montara Solstice Dreamscape fuses computational photography and artificial intelligence; specifically, it consists of a 30-shot, 244+ megapixel HDR panorama I captured in June 2016 that was ‘interpreted’ by a proprietary enhanced version of Google’s “DeepDream” AI software in November 2016.
