The first of my Dreamscapes ever printed, Point Montara Lighthouse was one of three grand format (96″ x 192″) artworks that NVIDIA commissioned me to create for exhibition during their annual GPU Technology Conference in April 2016. This opportunity was championed inside NVIDIA by my engineering collaborator, Chris Lamb, who saw these pieces as an effective vehicle for conveying the power of NVIDIA GPUs to accelerate artificial intelligence applications.
Point Montara Lighthouse Dreamscape fuses computational photography and artificial intelligence; specifically, it consists of a 36-shot, 201+ megapixel HDR panorama I captured on the California coast just a few miles north of my home in Half Moon Bay in October 2013 that was ‘interpreted’ by a proprietary enhanced version of Google’s “DeepDream” AI software in January 2016.
