Situated above the town of Kandersteg in the Swiss canton of Bern, Oeschinen Lake is one of the most accessible and photogenic scenic wonders in the world.
In my experience, even the most spectacular terrain may yield few prospects for ideal photographic compositions. For this reason I typically only set up my tripod a few times on any given day of chasing vistas. That was not the case while hiking around Oeschinensee; this day holds the record for me in terms of image capture attempts and successes, with this one being my favorite.
Oeschinensee Dreamscape fuses computational photography and artificial intelligence; specifically, it consists of a 36-shot, 356+ megapixel HDR panorama I captured in October 2018 that was ‘interpreted’ by a proprietary enhanced version of Google’s “DeepDream” AI software in November 2018.
