In October 2016, StartupGDL invited my Google collaborator, Joseph Smarr, and me to Guadalajara to exhibit and speak about our Dreamscapes project. While there, I had the good fortune to capture the interior of the beautiful Guadalajara Cathedral and, during our stay, found the time to transform it into a Dreamscape.
With respect and reverence, I sought a dreaming style that would feel spiritual, ethereal, maybe even inspirational, and hope I’ve succeeded. This artwork was the first and remains the only interior Dreamscape I’ve created thus far.
Guadalajara Cathedral Dreamscape fuses computational photography and artificial intelligence; specifically, it consists of a 36-shot, 204+ megapixel HDR panorama I captured in October 2016 that was ‘interpreted’ by a proprietary enhanced version of Google’s “DeepDream” AI software while in Guadalajara.
